If you travel through wet climates regularly (or even occasionally) and want to keep your critical pieces of gear dry, look no further. Hand built using DCF11 fabric these Roll-Top Stuff Sacks can quickly become an essential part of any pack system. With six sizes to choose from, for anything from a small food bag to a pack liner, there’s no shortage of uses. But keep in mind that these are not a fully sealed closure, or considered a dry bag in the traditional sense. Although when rolled down enough, they’re as close as it gets without the added weight.

Seams failed on the first trip

The seams are taped and not sewn. The adhesive broke down on the first trip I used this on.

Stuff sack blew out on 1st use

Just glad I used this while traveling rather than waiting for the week long ski traverse that I bought it for. It’s wet in the North Cascades and you don’t want to have a down coat naked and unstuffed in the pack bag. The bottom is glued, not sewn, and the glue completely failed, so that my coat was bulging out the bottom. I’ve heard that quality at Hyperlite has suffered after they outsourced manufacturing. Maybe this is an example. Surprised and disappointed, based on excellent past experience with Ultamid 2. I sure hope the seams on my new Ultamid 4 don’t fail on this trip!

    Taped Seams are Unreliable

Just returned from an arctic trip.

Pros: lightweight and solid roll mechanism.

Cons: taped seam along the bottom failed/separated when filling the stuff sack for the second time.

Bottom line: lightweight drybag/stuff sack of questionable durability that is prone to failure.

    Stuff sack fails

We used the stuff sacks for the first time last weekend on a scrmble up Mt Chephren in the Canadian Rockies. The bottom of the one sack popped open😳. The bit of glue on the surfaces were ok to get it sticking together again. These are by far the most expensive stuff sacks available. We were a bit disappointed.
