Inspired by the popular CrossPeak 2, the CrossPeak 1 brings the same freestanding design, stability, and quick setup to a solo backpacking tent. Its compact footprint hides a roomy interior with generous headroom, while 100% waterproof Dyneema Composite Fabrics deliver an ideal balance of low weight, durability, and weather protection. At 28.7 oz, it’s one of the lightest freestanding one-person tents available—offering the reliability, comfort, and storm-ready performance sought after by ambitious adventurers.

KEY FEATURES:
  • Just because it's a one person tent doesn't mean it has to be a coffin, the Crosspeak 1 boasts ample room for the backcountry user and all their gear.
  • Perimeter mesh provides superior ventilation while never compromising the shelter's resiliency in harsh weather.
  • First-rate reinforcement and guy-out points make this three season shelter sturdier than the competition.

A Stable & Reliable Solo Shelter

I’ve spent nearly 10 nights in this tent, and it’s been a solid all-rounder.

Pros: Wind resistance and stability are top‑notch – the 8mm DAC aluminium poles and the optional trekking‑pole support make it noticeably more stable than my Tarptent Rainbow Li. Space for one person is genuinely generous; a trekking partner called it a “palace” after swapping for a night. Build quality is excellent, with reinforced patches throughout. And it looks even better in person than on the official photos – a different, equally pleasing aesthetic compared to the Rainbow.

The middle ground: The single storage pocket is enough for me, and the bathtub floor height and the small vestibule on the closed side work well. The side mesh sits 5–10 cm off the ground, which unintentionally creates extra storage space for lightweight items (just don’t overload it).

Drawbacks: The main door zipper is single‑pull, not double‑ended like on Tarptent or Hilleberg. That means on rainy mornings or when I want to check conditions without fully opening the vestibule, I have to unzip the whole thing – a two‑way zipper would be much more convenient. Also, my packed weight (with guylines) is around 910–1000g, heavier than the official claim. But given the improved stormworthiness, I can accept that trade‑off.

Final verdict: You can’t have everything – the extra grams buy you better wind/snow protection. For solo backpackers who prioritise stability, this is a great choice. Recommended.

    Impressed so far

I’ve used this tent in the Colorado and Idaho mountains and it has kept me sheltered and dry through rain and gusty winds. I installed an interior clothes line with a gear pocket at the peak and it’s been a nice addition. The one problem I’ve experienced is dust blowing into the tent through the ventilation screen between the tent floor and back wall. This happened twice and it wasn’t even very windy, so I expect this will be an issue in dusty or sandy campsites. One the good side, the screen is good place to dry socks.

Another very minor quibble is the excessive size of the stuff sack. It’s the same size as the one that comes with the Crosspeak 2.

    Amazing Tent!

The Crosspeak 1 delivers! I took into the Waddington Range ( highest mountains in BC ). It performed flawlessly in heavy rains and high winds. incredibly storm worthy, due to its superb design, structural soundness and waterproofness - high bathtub floor and great coverage.

the tent is delightfully roomy and was a great mountain abode in the storms!

    Perfect!!

Exactly what I was looking for! An ultralight, one-person, freestanding tent with no hassle from trekking poles or a complicated setup. The Crosspeak 1 is simple, quick to pitch, and incredibly lightweight. It was exactly what I wanted for backpacking. Highly recommended!!
