ok daypack needs tweaking
This is probably another under 5-star review that will be filtered out, but here goes nothing...
What I like about the Elevate 22: the 22L volume and the fact the large fits my longer torso makes for the ideal for me day pack; water reservoir compatible, which I prefer and the fact I can't reach bottles in the side pockets unless I remove the pack; decent size mesh front pocket and front bungee strap; volumous side pockets; comfy, minnimal hip belt; front daisy chain webbing accommodating axe/pole straps; water resistance; durable fabric. I didn't have any water ingress during river crossings, although I wouldn't try to use it as a floaty to cross; however, I didn't have to carry my bag overhead like everyone else did. I did have a poly liner, but there was no water inside the Elevate 22.
What I dislike: the aluminum g-hooks are useless, fiddly, unnecessary, and fall off unless you have the Elevate 22 is packed to the brim. Given the load capacity and use of plastic buckles elsewhere there was no reason to use aluminum g-hooks for top and side compression. The side ones don't stay hooked, especially when minimally packed. The water reservoir comptabile is a positive, but the single loop inside is a negative. I've opted to use dyneema taped hooks and a reservoir pocket from a different company. HMG could have put a mesh reservoir pocket which would make it more usable, since I prefer the reservoir not flopping all around and makes for easier access to other things…
