How to Choose a Pack Size

Your torso length, not your height, determines your pack size. We recommend the following to determine yours:

  1. Tilt your head slightly forward to locate the bony bump at the base of your neck. (This is your 7th cervical (or C7) vertebra).
  2. Using a flexible tape measure, have someone measure starting at that spot and running down along the curve of your spine.
  3. Place your hands on your hips so you can feel your iliac crest, which serves as the “shelf” of your pelvic girdle. (It’s the first hard thing you feel when you run your fingers down from the sides of your ribcage.) Position your hands so your thumbs are reaching behind you.
  4. Have your friend finish measuring at the point where the tape crosses an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This distance is your torso length.
    • Small (15.0” - 17.0” torso)
    • Medium (17.0” - 19.0” torso)
    • Large (19.0” - 21.0” torso)
    • Tall (21.0”+ torso)
  5. If your measurement falls right in between sizes (for example, if you have a 17.0” torso, so you are right on the line between a Small and a Medium), we suggest you choose the larger torso size.

    My go to for travel

This pack has been on a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon - blaring hot sun and cold water. It kept my gear dry and the fabric and construction held up. It’s now with me in Africa as my day pack on Safari and my carry on for flights. It holds up to hot, dry, wet, dusty. It rolls down for minimal load or up to stuff it full. Very adaptable.

I’ve had it for 10 years and I use it all the time. It’s my go to

Only problem is it looks like ****

    Great Pack

I bought this to fill the niche of a large day pack or tiny overnight pack. Fills both rolls very well. Earlier this week I did a two day one night loop in the White Mountains NH. There was some elevation gain and rough terrain involved so I wanted as small and light a pack I could manage. This 22L held my full hammock set up (40°UQ, 20°TQ, hammock, tarp, etc. Two titanium cook pots, a stove and fuel canister, extra wool top, water filtration kit, food in a bear bag, two water bottles, and an assortment of other odds and ends. In total it was just under 14 pounds with everything except water. The pack was full but it managed that weight very well. The load was evenly distributed between my shoulders and hips and carried very well. I understand that this is a day pack and stuffing it like this for an overnight is pushing its design parameters, but, it can easily be done. And with that said, the ONLY criticism, or suggestion really, is that the back outside stretch pocket should have a little more stretch or more material. Just a little. With the pack filled as tight as I had it, it makes getting anything into that outside stretch pocket very difficult. A tiny bit larger would help a lot. Just a suggestion. Overall I am very happy.
