HEADWALL 55

Hyperlite Mountain Gear is not about bells and whistles, nonessential features, or the latest trending colors. We manufacture stripped down, high performance gear that’s been dialed in to meet, in as minimalist a manner as possible, the exacting requirements of the people who use it.

UPWARD MOBILITY, UNLIMITED DOWNTIME

The HEADWALL 55 is designed for carving fresh tracks in deep powder. This ultralight backcountry ski pack utilizes Fully Woven Dyneema® composite fabric that holds up against sharp ski edge contact and rough terrain. Dual-Adjustable side straps secure your skis or splitboard to the pack. External Avalanche Pocket and Dual Ice Tool attachments keep your safety gear organized and easy to access while the adjustable aluminum frame stays help distribute the load to the removable padded hip belt.

BEST PRACTICES

The roll top design provides excellent compaction and water-tightness but means that pack organization is key.

  • Place lighter, less mission critical items (sleeping bag, pad, dry layers) near the bottom.
  • Load bulky, heavier items (food, cookware, electronics) below the shoulder straps and above the hip belt. Note: Two internal frame stays distribute weight to the hip belt and help support your pack.
  • Keep quick grab items closer to the top of the bag (rain gear, mid-layer).
  • The External Avalanche Pocket can be used to store additional safety equipment.
  • Locate frequently used gear in the hip belt pockets or daisy chain to the outside of the pack.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Periodically check your backpack fabric, pockets, straps, clips, and adjusters for signs of stress or tears and repair any damage before continued use.

The HEADWALL 55 is an ultralight backcountry skiing pack designed for multi-day mountaineering adventures.

The HEADWALL 55 is NOT a dry bag. Take precautions to prevent gear from getting wet.

To ensure pack contents remain dry regardless of weather conditions, we recommend pairing your pack with our Pods and Stuff Sacks to organize internal contents and create an additional layer of protection.

Take the time on a dry, sunny day to spot-clean any areas that need it. A soft damp cloth and a mild soap (non-detergent and non-oil based soaps work well, do not bleach). Air-dry your pack by leaving it out to hang-dry. Make sure your pack is completely dry before long term storage.

ENJOY THE UP

The HEADWALL 55 has dual-adjustable side release buckles for attaching skis and splitboards.

  1. Place one ski/board against the HEADWALL, with your bindings facing away from the pack and the tips pointing up.
  2. Clip together the three sets of side straps, locating one strap below the binding.
  3. Adjust the straps equally, centering each buckle over your ski/board to ensure a secure attachment.

Side straps can be wrapped around the front of the HEADWALL 55 pack to carry a full board.

Note: Straps are available to A-Frame carry.
