Your torso length, not your height, determines your pack size. We recommend the following to determine yours:

Tilt your head slightly forward to locate the bony bump at the base of your neck. (This is your 7th cervical (or C7) vertebra).
Using a flexible tape measure, have someone measure starting at that spot and running down along the curve of your spine.
Place your hands on your hips so you can feel your iliac crest, which serves as the “shelf” of your pelvic girdle. (It’s the first hard thing you feel when you run your fingers down from the sides of your ribcage.) Position your hands so your thumbs are reaching behind you.
Have your friend finish measuring at the point where the tape crosses an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This distance is your torso length.
- Small (15.0” - 17.0” torso)
- Medium (17.0” - 19.0” torso)
- Large (19.0” - 21.0” torso)
- Tall (21.0”+ torso)
If your measurement falls right in between sizes (for example, if you have a 17.0” torso, so you are right on the line between a Small and a Medium), we suggest you choose the larger torso size.

With two solid-fabric side exterior pockets that offer added protection for whatever’s inside and a center mesh pocket for visibility and drying wet gear, the Junction is a comfortable pack that delivers premium performance wherever you’re headed.

The new Dyneema^® Woven Composite 3.9 fabric offers a significant boost in durability and abrasion protection, surpassing that of the previous Dyneema^® Composite Hybrid 5.9 fabric while maintaining the light weight of Dyneema^® Composite Hybrid 3.8.
Redesigned shoulder straps and a sewn-through back panel provide a more comfortable and secure fit, with better weight distribution and less wear over time.
Redesigned outside pockets with more depth, lower back edges for easier access to water bottles, and improved security for gear (like the ice axe) make packing and accessing items more convenient.

Top Closure

Roll-top closure system with vertical compression straps allows you to adjust the pack's volume, keeping the load compact, stable and protected from weather.

Top Y-Strap provides compression and top of pack storage for gear.

Back Panel

An integrated 1/4” foam back panel pad adds cushioning and support for a more comfortable carry.

Hip Belt

Dual density foam hip belt, featuring closed cell foam and spacer mesh, provides comfort and support for long hauls.

Dyneema Fabric

Stay hydrated on the go with a streamlined hydration system featuring a simple bladder hang loop and a repositioned hydroport.

Ergonomic Fit

Love the Hyperlite packs!
These days there are a lot of cottage-brand backpacks available and most of them are good. But I love the Hyperlite Junction for it's simplicity and design. It carries great, I love the sewn on shoulder straps and as long as you aren't packing a heavy load it is ultra comfortable.

Minimalist, rugged perfection
I own SO MANY backpacks including many HMG packs in this series and i find them to be my favorites if they fit you they are basically perfect. Well built, carry weight well, everything is exactly where it should be HMG have really perfected this design and it shows. Basically waterproof and they hold up extremely well I’m stilll using my original Southwest purchased more than 10 years ago or so most of all and it’s still going extemely strong. This one is a great all-around design and great for beach/wet environs anywhere you may have gear to dry out as you hike (or climb). I’m 6’1 with a 17-18 torso and a size M is perfect
