Camera Pod

As mainly a mountain sport photograper (stephanrichardphotography.com) I use the pod (large) for all kinds of backcountry stuff. First pod I bought was a bad copy and fell apart on first use. Got a replacement from hyperlite very fast. Since then no complaints . Perfect for carrying your camera in various ways. I use it mainly with a Nikon Z8 (tight fit, but even with the 70-180 attached it fits).

Nikon Z6 fits but with a very thin L bracket it’s a very tight squeeze that requires some finesse to get in/out. After just over a year of using for roughly a few days each month the inside fabric is already fraying significantly and will likely wear down to the padding layer before long.

I love how light this is and the additional protection of having my camera padded vs open and exposed with a peak design clip, but I wish the large were just a little bigger. I’ve switched to a different model by Moment for a 2oz weight penalty but far more durable outer and inner fabrics plus a small inside zip pocket. The Moment also lets you mount the bag itself to a PD capture clip if you want.

I ordered the camera pod assuming it would fit a camera. My Nikon Z7 wouldn’t fit with any lens. A little disappointed at how small the pod was.

Attached the camera to my shoulder strap and walked 2 miles up this stream to a nice waterfall. Crawled over and under brush, Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron with no problems. The pod protected my camera and being on my shoulder strap made the camera easy to get . Very pleased with the camera pod.

I go backpacking 4-5 times a year, usually 3-4 day trips max. I've been using this camera pod for 2 years now, attached to the belt of my backpack and the setup works very well for me. It's lightweight, and the bag protects my camera if i'm scrambling up rocks or accidentally knock it against something. The outside fabric of the bag has held up just fine, but the inside dyneema fabric has torn unfortunately. I'm not even sure how really...just the abrasion of taking my camera in and out of the bag I guess? Whatever the case, it's a disappointment considering the price of the bag considering I don't use it a ton. I wish they would have used the same outer material, even if it's a little heavier. I've been recommending this bag but since the tear, I can't anymore. I put some clear tape over the tear which prevents my camera from getting snagged on it and it's still usable, but I'll look for another bag for the future.
