HALKA 55 & 70

Hyperlite Mountain Gear is not about bells and whistles, nonessential features, or the latest trending colors. We manufacture stripped down, high performance gear that’s been dialed in to meet, in as minimalist a manner as possible, the exacting requirements of the people who use it.

THE PACK MADE FOR RAREFIED AIR
Using our proven and trusted Ice Pack as a starting point, we worked with a highly accomplished crew of Nepalese guides to up the ante and develop a pack with goal-focused features that meet and surmount the challenges climbers face throughout high-altitude expeditions.

FOLLOW THEIR GUIDANCE
By reexamining the already established guide favorite Ice Pack, we further developed a pack with the sherpa, Ice Doctor, and professional climber’s needs in mind. When the carried gear is meant to support two adventurers, the additional volume and dual oxygen bottle capacity makes the 70L Halka the pack of choice.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The HALKA 55 and HALKA 70 are ultralight packs designed for multi-day backcountry adventures.

The HALKA 55 and HALKA 70 are NOT dry bags. Take precautions to prevent gear from getting wet.

To ensure pack contents remain dry regardless of weather conditions, we recommend pairing your pack with our Pods and Stuff Sacks to organize internal contents and create an additional layer of protection.

Take the time on a dry, sunny day to spot-clean any areas that need it. A soft damp cloth and a mild soap (non-detergent and non-oil based soaps work well, do not bleach). Air-dry your pack by leaving it out to hang-dry. Make sure your pack is completely dry before long term storage.

Periodically check your backpack fabric, pockets, straps, clips, and adjusters for signs of stress or tears and repair any damage before continued use.

Store your pack in a dry place.

Refer to the product information pages for feature videos that can help you through the process.

BEST PRACTICES

  • Place lighter, less mission critical items near the bottom.
  • Load bulky, heavier items below the shoulder straps and above the hip belt.
  • Keep quick grab items closer to the top of the bag.
  • The external pocket and gear loop can be used to store additional equipment.
  • Store frequently used gear in the side pocket.

FINE TUNING

Your hip belt is attached to the HALKA 55 and HALKA 70 with a Velcro backing and is removable.

HIP BELT REMOVAL

1. Empty the contents from your hip belt pocket and gear loop.

2. Starting from one side, slowly pull the hip belt away from the backpack.

3. Once fully separated, slide the hip belt through to remove.

Note: Placing a small strip of cardboard in between will help to keep the two pieces separated.

SAFETY

Avoid campsites that present the possibility of avalanches, falling rocks or tree limbs, flash floods, lightning strikes, strong winds, and other potential hazards to reduce the risk of damage or injury.

  • This backpack is not a toy. To prevent the danger of choking or suffocation, keep this bag away from babies and children.
  • This backpack is not fireproof. Keep your bag away from all open flames and heat sources to prevent the possibility of melting or burns from sparks and falling embers.
  • Familiarize yourself with the different adjustments to maximize comfort, so you can stay focused on your next adventure.
