How to Choose a Pack Size

Your torso length, not your height, determines your pack size. We recommend the following to determine yours:

  1. Tilt your head slightly forward to locate the bony bump at the base of your neck. (This is your 7th cervical (or C7) vertebra).
  2. Using a flexible tape measure, have someone measure starting at that spot and running down along the curve of your spine.
  3. Place your hands on your hips so you can feel your iliac crest, which serves as the “shelf” of your pelvic girdle. (It’s the first hard thing you feel when you run your fingers down from the sides of your ribcage.) Position your hands so your thumbs are reaching behind you.
  4. Have your friend finish measuring at the point where the tape crosses an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This distance is your torso length.
    • Small (15.0” - 17.0” torso)
    • Medium (17.0” - 19.0” torso)
    • Large (19.0” - 21.0” torso)
    • Tall (21.0”+ torso)
  5. If your measurement falls right in between sizes (for example, if you have a 17.0” torso, so you are right on the line between a Small and a Medium), we suggest you choose the larger torso size.

Amazing carry and comfort

I have owned many packs like I am sure many in the reviews have. In short, the material is very rugged, the focus on comfort is apparent, and the features are great - but I could go with even less. That is not to say they aren’t ideal for others.

Love the pack, was looking to get as close to a Porter with ice tool carry as possible. I appreciate minimalist exterior packs as those are typically the first features to show wear and tear. I personally don’t keep my crampons on the outside of a pack in any situation plus the prism crampon case is too good not to use and secure inside the pack.

Only improvements I would make would be to remove the exterior crampon carry and update the tool carry system to the toggle attachments like on the new Aspect. I have other packs with that attachment and it is a lot more confidence inspiring than plastic buckles in cold weather. I would happily buy this pack again regardless of my nuances. The carry and comfort is unrivaled.

Top Shelf

Love the pack. Recommend adding some additional material on one side of the pack for added protection carrying pickets.

Great backpack.

Unbelievably light. People are fascinated by the difference compared to their smaller but heavier pack. Large enough to fit everything you'll need. I recommend Hyperlite to everyone that will listen.

Works like it says on the packet.

I like the simple design and durability of the pack.

No ‘bells or whistles’ to get in the way, there are always things that would be nice. But if you have a look pragmatically this pack has exactly what is needed to fitful the simple alpine pack with plenty of overflow.
